EM-Technik UK has supplied components to Surface Finishing Engineering (SFE) for many years and provide a small but vital element to their day-to-day operations.
Surface Finishing Engineering manufactures metal finishing equipment, predominantly for the aerospace industry. It creates tanks of varying sizes for parts to be “dipped” into hazardous chemicals, so the structure and fabric of the tanks needs to be exact.
SFE relies on EM-Technik UK for its range of valves and tubing. The nature of the product means the right material is essential to a safe operation and SFE can always count on EM-Technik UK to have the stock.
Technical Manager at SFE, Neil Turnbull commented: “We create large plant equipment which means we’re hypersensitive to every little detail that goes into creating the tanks. So, the valves we use from EM-Technik UK, whilst they seem small, are hugely important to our operation.

“The valves and tubes help with the sampling and dosing of chemicals. As you can imagine, the chemicals need to be perfectly balanced and sometimes, the tiniest additions need to be made to do this. It also means that samples are often taken away for testing.
“Before we worked with EM-Technik UK this was predominantly a manual job but as more health and safety regulations came in and more awareness was brought to the importance of it, we devised a new sampling system. We created sampling pumps which were safe and required no exposure from staff, and so we needed the right products and materials to sustain the pumps.
“The range, type of valves available and materials EM-Technik UK uses make them the perfect partner for our small component needs. What we use has to withstand strong chemicals.”
When SFE came across EM-Technik UK a few years ago, it had everything the company needed. Neil added: “We had our requirements and EM-Technik UK had the product. Generally, I would give Malcolm (Grimes, MD of EM-Technik UK) a list by description and he would specify it from the extensive EM-Technik range.
“It’s all very straightforward. I create a schematic of what we need, send it to Malcolm and we know it will be available.
“EM-Technik UK has excellent response times to our enquiries, equipment comes when we want it, and the quality is always good. We’ve never had an issue with the product.”
