EM-Technik UK has supplied components to Pollution Monitors Ltd, helping to provide a complete solution for Britain’s water treatment works by reducing gas emissions.

EM-Technik UK is pleased to partner with Pollution Monitors Ltd, which is part of PM Group. The firm has an outstanding reputation for quality and engineering excellence, supplying bespoke systems for sewage treatment works across the UK.

PM Group boasts over 25 years’ experience in the design and build of bespoke gas detection and environmental monitoring systems for industry.

Rob Summers, Workshop Manager at Pollution Monitors UK said: “Quality and excellent support is imperative to our company. We have an excellent working relationship with Malcolm at EM-Technik UK.

“EM Technik supply us with FEP (fluoroplastic resin) tubing and their type 1A fittings, which are made from PVDF (polyvinylidene fluoride), a high purity engineering thermoplastic with excellent chemical resistance.”

The FEP tubing is right solution for this application as it has excellent mechanical properties, abrasion resistance, flame resistance and UV stability.

Rob said: “The FEP tubing has great strength, stability and chemical resistance. The tubing has virtually no water absorption and are highly resistant to weathering and radiation, making it possible for use in quite harsh environments and exterior use.”

The supply of these product ranges from EM-Technik UK has meant that PM Group could provide a complete solution to clients, who face the responsibility of minimising and monitoring the levels of Hydrogen Sulphide (H2S) gas entering the environment.

Rob said: “The gas has a rotten egg smell and creates a public health concern when the odour is released.

“Historically sewage treatment works were built in relatively remote locations, because of the increasing need for housing, these sites are now relatively closer to conurbations.”

Consequently, councils now issue licenses to treatment sites with an allowance for the levels of H2S gas that can be emitted to atmosphere, if these limits are exceeded, firms can receive hefty fines.

Rob said: “H2S gas is quite a ‘sticky’ gas and, to reduce the loss of a measured sample, FEP tubing and PVDF fittings offers the best solution for this. We are dealing with parts per billion levels, so maintaining sample integrity is a priority.

“The combination of tubing and fittings in conjunction with our bespoke measuring systems goes a long way to keep our clients compliant with the restrictions in place from the local councils.

“Malcolm has been exceptional to work with on projects for the many years I have known him. His product knowledge and EM-Technik UK’s extensive product range mean that we can offer unique solutions for our clients. We expect to continue our working relationship for many more years to come.”
